Resolving changes

Decide what goes into your precedent, one change, one paragraph or many at once.

Each change is a place where your source documents differ. Resolving it means choosing the wording that goes into your precedent.

This article covers:

  • Opening a change

  • Your options

  • Applying your choice

  • Resolving a whole paragraph

  • Applying all AI suggestions

1. Opening a change

Click a highlighted change in the document, or click a change under a provision in the Provisions list.

  • The change panel opens on the right with your options for resolving it.

  • Its header shows where the change sits in its provision, for example, 1 / 8.

  • Use the arrows to move to the previous or next change.

2. Your options

The options depend on the change, but you will usually see these:

3. Applying your choice

  1. Select an option in the change panel.

  2. Click Apply here to resolve this change.

  3. If the same change appears in other provisions, you can click Apply in N places instead and confirm. Curate applies your choice to the identical wording elsewhere and skips any places you have already resolved.

To change your mind, select the change again and click Unresolve (or Unresolve in N places). You can also undo Apply in N places straight after using it, which puts every place back as it was.

4. Resolving a whole paragraph

When a paragraph has several changes, it is often quicker to settle the whole paragraph at once.

  1. Hover in the margin next to the paragraph and click Resolve this paragraph.

  2. The Resolving a paragraph window opens. At the top is the precedent version of the paragraph. Below it is a card for each source document, compared against the precedent.

  3. Shape the precedent wording in any of these ways:

    • Click Edit text to edit the precedent directly, including adding placeholders and conditions.

    • Use a source document’s whole paragraph: open the card’s menu and choose Use this paragraph as my precedent paragraph.

    • Use part of a source’s wording: hover over it, then choose Add as plain text, Add as placeholder or Add as condition.

    • Choose Set as master file on a card to compare the other sources against it for this paragraph.

    • Click the eye icon next to a source to hide it, so you can focus on the rest.

    • Open the precedent’s ··· menu and click Add a paragraph, then click a neighbouring paragraph in the document to bring it into the comparison.

  4. Then click Save changes.

5. Applying all AI suggestions

When Curate has suggestions ready, a banner shows how many there are.

  1. Click Apply all in the banner.

  2. Click Yes, apply to confirm.

Curate applies every suggestion at once. Changes without a suggestion stay open for you to resolve. If you change your mind, click Undo.
