How do I use my placeholder in more than one place in my document?
Copying placeholders for use in more than one part of the document is going to be common practice during a user’s time automating on Avvoka. Besides copying them out manually being a tedious task, you also involve the risk of running errors because attributes are case sensitive. For instance, if you have a document with Company Name as a placeholder in six distinct places throughout the document, it is possible that a user could erroneously use the wrong capitalization, (e.g. Company name). More information about placeholders can be found here.
How does it work?
There are two main ways to get placeholders throughout your agreement. The first is of course, a simple copy and paste. The second, is via our Find and replace tool. A third bonus tip, if you need to rename placeholders, is use of the Attribute Store.
Best practice
Always name your placeholders and attributes in a reasonable way (for example if it’s the agreement date, name it Agreement Date. For repeating a placeholder, you have to make sure you name it exactly the same (this is case sensitive, so “Attribute name” will be different to “attribute name” or “Attribute Name”). Remember to avoid blank spaces after the placeholder (for example, “Attribute name ” ). If the placeholders are the same, they will have only one related question in the questionnaire.
The Attribute Store can help you manage your attributes by providing you with an overview of the total number of times a placeholder appears in your template. More information about updating the attribute names can be found here.
