How to insert a new Datasheet Header

To insert a new header, navigate to the main Datasheets menu. Navigate to the relevant Datasheet you wish to add headers for and select the icon outlined in red below.

You will then be able to add a new header by clicking the “Add new header” button.

Once you have completed your edits, click the “Update Datasheet” button to save your changes.

How to customise Datasheet Headers

Customising the “Input Type” of the Headers will allow you to specify what type of input types you will accept as values under each Header. For example, users that add a new record under a Header will be able to simply add text or to select from a dropdown list, or a date, or only include numbers. Marking a Header as “Required” will make it compulsory for you to add a value under that Header every time a new record is created.

Input Type

Effect

Text

Values under this header will be stored as text.

Text area

Allows you to input longer sections of text with a line break.

Select

Values under this header will have to be selected from a list.

Fixed

If you select the fixed option, you are able to customise the various values by typing in the values separated by semicolons.

Datasheet

If you select the Datasheet option, you will be able to populate the options from an existing Datasheet.

Simply select the existing Datasheet, followed by the existing header that you would like to extract the values from.

Radio

Values under this header will have to be selected from a list of radio buttons. You are able to customise the various values by typing in the values separated by semicolons.

Date

Values under this header will have to be selected from a date picker. You will be able to change the date format in the right hand column.

Note: Dates from the Datasheet can be further formatted using the Date Format operation in the template.

Open select

Values under this header can be selected from a customisable list similar to the “Select” function. However, users are also able to input their own values if they so wish by typing in the “search” bar.

Number

Values under this header can only be numerical. Other types of values are blocked.

How to add constraints to headers

Add constraints to headers by navigating to the main Datasheets menu. Navigate to the relevant Datasheet you wish to add headers for and select the icon outlined in red below.

Then, click the “Add constraint” button. You will then be able to customise the “constraint type” and the header that you wish to apply this constraint to. You are able to add multiple headers. This would mean that both values will be evaluated for duplication before triggering the constraint (e.g. both First_name and Last_name must be duplicates).

Constraint Type

Meaning

Values must be unique (strict)

Fields that trigger this constraint can never be added.

Values must be unique (show warning)

Fields that trigger this constraint will show a warning and can be added by saving the record again.

Once you have completed your edits, click the “Update Datasheet” button to save your changes.
