How to Compare Agreement Versions

A quick guide to using Avvoka’s “Version Comparison” feature to track document changes.

The Version Comparison feature allows users to review changes between different versions of an agreement in Avvoka. This helps ensure transparency, maintain an audit trail, and understand how a document has evolved through negotiations, questionnaire updates, or manual saves.

Each agreement version is automatically stored in Avvoka when any of the following actions occur:

  • Publish during negotiation - A new version is generated when updates are published.

  • Update questionnaire responses - Changes in inputs create a new version of the document.

  • Perform a Hard Save - A manual save using the floppy disk icon triggers version creation.

This versioning system ensures that all document changes are tracked and recoverable.

How to Compare Versions (Document Level)

To open the Version Comparison interface, navigate to the Versions tab from the left-hand navigation menu and select Compare Versions.

A prompt will appear requesting version selection.

Select Version A (for example, the current document) and Version B (such as an earlier version or template, if enabled), then confirm the selection.

The system supports comparisons between different document versions, including template versions when available.

Click Compare in the prompt to generate a side-by-side comparison view displaying the differences between the selected versions.

The comparison view highlights changes between document versions using visual indicators, with additions shown in blue text and deletions displayed as redlined text.

Versions can be reviewed side-by-side in real time, and the latest version can be downloaded directly from the comparison interface.

Version Comparison improves transparency, maintains a clear audit trail, and helps track agreement changes throughout the document lifecycle.
